Program Lead, Climate & Global Programs | MIT Solve

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA (Hybrid)

MIT Solve is not a typical nonprofit. It operates more like a marketplace for world-changing ideas, sourcing solutions globally and connecting them to funding, expertise, and institutional backing. This role sits right at the center of that engine.

Program Management

This is operational leadership with real weight. You are not just coordinating programs, you are architecting them from concept to execution, ensuring timelines, budgets, and delivery all align with strategic impact goals.

It also demands managerial maturity. You will delegate, supervise, and course-correct teams while maintaining accountability for outcomes across multiple climate challenge portfolios.

Climate Challenge Design & Execution

Here, you become a curator of global innovation. Designing challenges means defining the problems that matter, framing them in ways that attract bold, diverse solutions, and ensuring credibility through world-class judges and rigorous selection processes.

You are not reviewing ideas passively. You are actively shaping which climate solutions get visibility, validation, and ultimately, scale.

Subject Matter Leadership

This role positions you as the internal voice of climate intelligence. You translate complex sustainability issues into actionable programs and communicate them clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.

Externally, you represent Solve in rooms that matter. That includes events, partnerships, and ecosystems where influence determines which ideas gain traction.

Relationship Management

At its core, this is a partnership-driven role. You will manage relationships with foundations, corporations, and global institutions, ensuring they see continued value in Solve’s platform.

Beyond maintenance, there is a growth mandate. You are expected to identify and unlock new partnerships, turning networks and conversations into long-term strategic collaborations.

Strategic Contribution

This is where the role moves beyond execution into influence. You contribute to shaping how Solve evolves as a global innovation platform, refining programs, improving systems, and embedding data-driven decision making into everything.

You are effectively helping design what a best-in-class climate innovation ecosystem should look like and then building it in real time.

Candidate Profile

The experience requirement is intentionally broad because the role is hybrid by design. It blends program management, partnerships, and climate domain expertise into one function.

What stands out is the need for someone who can operate across boundaries. Someone equally comfortable managing projects, engaging stakeholders, and thinking strategically about global impact.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation reflects a mid to senior level role within the social impact space, balanced by strong institutional benefits tied to MIT.

Beyond salary, the real value sits in access. You gain proximity to global innovators, leading institutions, and a network that can shape long-term career trajectory.

Final Take

This is not a back-office program role.

It is a platform-shaping position where you decide:

  • which climate problems get attention
  • which innovators get visibility
  • and which ideas move from concept to global impact

If you do this well, you are not just managing programs.
You are quietly influencing the future of climate innovation.
